Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analysis

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software has advanced rapidly and provides the ability to model a wide variety of fluid systems. We have been using CFD software for almost 20 years to model all types of fluid systems. Some examples include heat exchangers, dust collectors, capture hoods, reactors, condensers, centrifugal fans, mixers, and open channel flow. We can use CFD to model how a pollutant spreads through your facility, how a plume disperses from your stack, or the forces acting on that rooftop equipment during a high wind event.

Industrial Ventilation Systems


In manufacturing facilities, Industrial Ventilation and dust collection systems are frequently viewed as a necessary evil. They do not directly contribute to the profitability of a facility and frequently create maintenance headaches and incur high operating costs. Our experience in designing, testing and balancing, and operating these systems can help us to increase the efficiency and decrease the costs associated with your industrial ventilation or dust collection systems. 

Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) Systems and Custom Hoods

LEV systems are a specialized subset of industrial ventilation systems. When properly designed and installed, these systems greatly reduce the amount energy required to provide worker protection. When incorrectly designed and installed, they provide little if any protection and create high operating costs and maintenance headaches. We have extensive experience designing and operating LEV systems as well as knowing the documentation requirements to satisfy industry and regulatory standards.

Dust Hazard Analysis

According to NFPA 652, ALL facilities that have potentially explosive dust need to complete at Dust Hazard Analysis (DHA) by October of 2018. If you "substantially modify" an existing system, a DHA must be performed as a part of the project. While not as detailed as a Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), it needs to include many of the same practices and features. We can help you complete your DHA so your facility can comply with the new regulatinos.

Finite Element Analysis

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software is used throughout many industries. In fact a quick internet search reveals many open source and free software programs that anyone can download and use to develop "professional" results. Like any computer software, FEA follows the rule "Garbage In, Garbage Out." It is important that the user understands the underlying physics and knows the correct boundary conditions to use in simulating your system. Our experience in using FEA software as well as old fashioned hand calculations, gives us the experience to provide you with an accurate and reliable study.
